Subfloor Ventilation System

Why Under House Ventilation Systems Are Essential For Home

Ventis offers a Subfloor Ventilation System that helps prevent mould, rot, and moisture buildup beneath your home. Enjoy cleaner indoor air and long-term structural protection.

If your home has a subfloor — even a low one — and it’s not well ventilated, there’s a good chance excess moisture is building up beneath it. Over time, this can lead to mould, rot, musty smells, and serious structural damage.

Many Australian homes, especially older ones, are built with little natural airflow under the floor. That’s where the Ventis’ Under House Subfloor Ventilation System plays a crucial role – improving air circulation under your house to protect your home from the ground up.

Moist, stagnant air beneath your home creates the perfect environment for:

  • Rising damp
  • Mould and mildew
  • Wood rot and warped flooring
  • Musty indoor odours
  • Increased allergen exposure

Without effective under house ventilation, moisture builds up and seeps into your living spaces, affecting your indoor air quality and your family’s health.

The Ventis Subfloor Ventilation System uses whisper-quiet, high-efficiency fans to draw in fresh outdoor air and expel stale, damp air from under your home. This continuous airflow maintains a dry and balanced subfloor environment.

Depending on your home’s design layout, configurations may include:

  • Supply or exhaust fan configurations
  • Flexible ducting for targeted airflow
  • Passive vents for pressure balance
  • Timers for efficiency

Each installation is custom-designed based on your home’s layout and subfloor access.

  • A persistent musty smell in your home
  • Mould growth on lower walls or behind furniture
  • Floors that feel soft, springy, or warped
  • Visible damp patches or staining
  • Condensation on windows in rooms near ground level

These issues often indicate trapped moisture under the house – an early sign of future damage.

Very good service, fast and clean and pleasant staff. The Ventis system itself is a great idea and good money saver, esp. in colder periods of poor weather.

We have owned a Ventis ventilation system since 2015. The system is excellent and combines well with our new airconditioning/heating system to maintain a stable temperature in the house. Maintenance is roughly annual (change the main filter). We have ours serviced regularly. The service people have always been helpful, courteous, communicate their arrival beforehand, and efficient operators. We have worked out that it saves electricity because the aircon is not required unless the temperature inside is extreme (for us that is below 15ºC and above 28ºC). We highly recommend the system and the company. Our opinion is still current on 21 March 2025.

FAQs

What is subfloor ventilation, really?

A subfloor ventilation system can be defined as a quiet way for your house to kick out the bad air from your house and inviting in the good air, making it good for you and your family health. This works by having the ventilation system beneath the flooring of your house which is where most of the damp and stale air stays and pushes them out.

If you ever search up “How do I know if I’ve got a moisture problem under my house”. Some common signs include:

  • A damp, earthy or musty smell inside your home
  • Floorboards starting to warp or feel soft
  • Mould showing up low on walls or in corners
  • Rooms feeling damp even when it’s dry outside

If you notice any of these, Ventis subfloor ventilation could be the simple solution that fixes it.

Most homes, especially the older ones, weren’t built with ventilation in mind, with the help of a heavy rain, poor drainage or even a humid climate will enhance the trap moisture in your house. This will result in damp air hanging out under your house which will result in mold, rot and making your house smelly. However, with the help of a subfloor ventilation system, especially from our one, we will keep your house dry and balanced, making the perfect home for you. For your family.
Definitely! Especially if you work with us it’s one of the best long-term fixes. Due to the fact that mold grows from damp areas underneath the flooring, the constant airflow that keeps the area dry from our subfloor installing will break that cycle. Over time, it also clears out those musty odours and improves the air quality inside your home.
Not at all. Most systems are surprisingly affordable for the top-notch services we offer. This is because we run it on low-energy fans that cost just a few cents a day. Once it’s installed, there’s very little you need to do, it just quietly protects your home 24/7. And compared to the cost of fixing mould, damaged floors, or structural issues? It’s a smart investment that saves you money in the long run.
